Randoms

I've been thinking...

About babies. There are 14 (give or take) pregnant people in my ward alone. Faye seems older than a lot of those embryo's next oldest sibling. Am I being selfish for not wanting another baby right now?

Tampons. The other day I heard Faye making the sound of whirling (you know: whoa whoa whoa whoa) and when I opened the door she was swinging a tampon around and around like a cartoon nunchuck. It was awesome.

Neighbors. We share our house with a couple downstairs, but they haven't been home in over a week and they didn't tell us they were leaving. There are only two things that could have happened:

-1. One has killed the other, ran away, and there is a rotting corpse a floor away from us.

-or 2. They went on vacation and didn't tell us.

Either way- I'm upset about it.

Gushers.
The commercial with the kid with a gusher instead of an eye makes me super uncomfortable.

Talking animals.
Recently I have had a change of heart about my dislike for talking animals. That pig with the pin wheel and the "speak for yourself moron" dog on Billy Madison has made me a believer.

Brains. My kids are going to be smarter than me in like two years. I need to find a way to stay ahead of the pack. My plan is to watch more 30 Rock.

Television in general.
I'm totally not opposed to it. And I don't believe it rots our children's brains. My 3 year old can read and my 21 month old isn't far off. Thanks Leapfrog and pbskids.

That last statement. Don't you judge me.

My love. David's next two rotations are about an hour away which means I won't be seeing him very often. I get sad when he isn't around. And a little scared. And with a dead body on the first floor- I may just have to move in with a friend for a few months. Any takers?

Transition. For some reason I feel like my life is in transition mode- only I have no idea what I am waiting to transition into.

Coolness. Are you born cool? Or is it a learned behavior?

The End.

Randoms time.

I haven't spent a lot of time blogging recently and so I've decided to do some of my randoms to make me feel better about it.

Sleepless in Pennsylvania. Well, mostly it was Sleepless in Salt Lake, but we are still trying to get back on schedule. Miles went to sleep at 6:30 tonight and woke up at 10pm. Two words: inappropriate.

Thomas and Friends. I'm not into Thomas or his friends. I have seen the same Thomas movies time and time again, but I must not be paying attention because now that it is 11:19 in the pm and I am watching them with Miles again- I am seeing entire two or three segments that I haven't ever seen before.
Also, Gordon is a snob.

Walk this way. Faye is 12 months old and isn't even close to walking. She doesn't even want to stand up by herself- which doesn't worry me because Miles started walking at 15 months- but she has this crazy ability to climb any possible surface to reach the zenith of the room. Pray for us.

Ugh. The other day Miles jumped onto a fort (a blanket over two pillows) and landed eye first on the the cement. "Lacey said I landed on the bement and Mom says I need vegetables and fruits to get helpy and strong." He also says things like "Well, that makes me fwustewated!" and "Oh, thank you Mommy! That is fantastic or awesome or great or fabulous or terrific." And his new thing is "Ugh." It's not my favorite. Oh, he also says "That's not my favorite."

Rapunzel. Somehow I have long hair. I don't know when it happened, but the other day it was short and now it is long and coming out in exponential rates in the shower.

My past life. Today I was remembering my high school days and I was a little nostalgic for Gwen Stephani's blue hair, the animaniacs, and after school mac and cheese.

Are you kidding me? Faye just woke up.
This ends me.

Biggest Loser Rules and Regulations.

This is adapted from the first Biggest Loser Competition...

I'm sooo excited that you guys want to do this with me! Here is how it's going to go down:

-I really want to do this in accordance with the show which means we will only have enough spots for 16 people. This season is not a couples season- sorry dudes.

- We will each be contributing $20.00 to the pot. Most of your money will go to the first prize winner and the rest of the money will be split for the 2nd and 3rd prizes. I promise I will take special care of your money.

- We will have our first weigh-in on Tuesday, Sept 15th that is next week! We will have to watch the show Tuesday night to see how things are going to roll and do our stuff accordingly the following week. I will expect your weigh-in information Tuesday morning. FYI- IF I DON'T RECEIVE YOUR STATS BEFORE EACH SHOW ON TUESDAY I WILL ASSUME THAT YOU ARE OUT OF THE COMPETITION. Apparently this is serious business. If you can't post your info you can call, text, email or hunt me down and I will do it for you. I will post all of my information on the blog.

- If someone is eliminated during the premiere- we will be eliminating two people the following week to catch up.

-We will not be voting. The percentage of body weight loss will be the only determining factor in our competition.

- Please be honest when posting. Please use the same scale from the first weigh-in to the last. You will be using your own scale and we are trusting you to do the right thing.

- I will try and give everyone in the group access to posting on the blog. If I miss you, please let me know.

- I think the most important things to post are your current weight (on said day) and your diet/work-out plan. Also, if you would like, you can post other things such as inches, goals, and (if you are brave) pictures. Please know that this is a very friendly competition and we won't make judgments or share the posted information with people outside of the competition. Please. :)

- Please feel free to post anything you want to about your weight loss journey. This is not only a competition, but a support group as well.

I think that is it. If I have missed something- please let me know.

I'm so ready to be a loser.

These are the people I am counting on as of right now. If you read the rules and didn't like what you saw- let me know and I will take you off the list.

1- Cicely Cain
2- Emily Hurst

3- Jolyne Dickinson
4- Paul Dickinson

5- Sabrena Suite
6- Britani Nunes
7- Lindsey Fish
8- Jeff Cain
9- Annie Cain
10- Julie Keith
11- David Keith
12- Emily Cain
13- Jenn Elton
14- McCall Judd
15- Marcie Nelson
16- Goldie Olsen

Possible friends?
- Ty Fish:)
- McCall Judd
- Alesha Olsen
- Jeff Cain

Better hurry. Spots are filling up fast.

We have more people playing that I anticipated. If we can get 16 more people that would be great, if not we may have to make the cut where it stands. I have also been debating doing teams and averaging the percentage of weight lost between the couple.

Loves.

I'm a Biggest Loser Contestant.

So my favorite show on television is The Biggest Loser and it is back in a big way starting next Tuesday the 15th on NBC.

Previously, I hosted a biggest loser blog to lose weight and to try and steal money from my friends. I worked my butt off and although I didn't get the prize $ at the end- I did get more fit than I have been in years and I enjoyed being naked which was my real reward. I lost 10% of my body weight and 16 lbs!

Recently I have been eating excessive amounts of Oreos and Havarti cheese. I'm ready to start my exercise program again and I want you to be a part of it.

I am doing things a little differently this time: I'm taking my cue from the show and we will be eliminating one person each week- that is- if there is an elimination on the show that week. I think this way it will be easier to stay motivated the whole time and not put it off until later.

I know this is short notice, but if you are interested in participating- let me know quickly! We will be starting the competition on Tuesday. I hope we can get at least 16 contestants on our show.

ps. Those of you who played last time- this is a great chance to redeem yourself.

I like you (blank) and here is why.

I like you Tiffany Collard and here is why:

Because I think you are a real person. You aren't superficial and you care about people in a very sincere way. Also, I think you are perfectly beautiful.

I like you Aly Cain and here is why:

Because when Dave and I see hip people we call them Aly's friends. Your keen eye for style is what I want to have when I grow up. Also, you might be the third funniest person who is reading this blog. Not to mention that if I had a face transplant- I'd choose yours.

I like you Gob Bluthe and here is why:

I saw you on Sesame street this week as Max the Magician and you didn't disappoint with your sweet illusionist moves. And also, I think your wife is the funniest female that has ever been on SNL.

I like you Super Nanny and here is why:

I don't know if you are a mother or are actually a nanny, but I am soaking up every word you say.

I like you Emily Hurst and here is why:

I would be lost without you. ps. Even though it may sound like it- from that last comment I just made- I'm not in love with you or anything. Also, I am very excited for our newest project: The Frog Blog.

TV

There is something wrong with my television. Or maybe just with my head...

I love to watch people and so reality TV is fascinating to me. Here is the problem: I mostly love watching train wrecks. I watch America's Next Top Model because the girls on the show are so interesting and also because I can't look away from Tyra Banks. I have also found myself watching her daytime talk show while the kids are napping sometimes and let me tell you- it is awful. I am embarrassed for her.

I also felt this way watching American Idol tonight. Poor Paula. Somebody please stop giving this woman cocktails and botox injections before the show.

Oh, thank you.

Oh, thank you David Archuleta for regaining my trust and my vote. I knew the adorable, fantastic, vocal talent hadn't escaped forever. Don't push your luck next week.

American not my Idol anymore

David Archuleta. More like- David Archu-letting-me-down.

I'm giving you one more chance and then we are through.

p.s. On Wednesday I told my sister that if Kristy Lee Cook doesn't go home- I'm never watching the show again. I lied. I'll watch it, I'm just not happy about it.

p.s.s. Kristy Lee Cook is the idol chosen for votefortheworst.com. So that helps.

Sleighbells and schnitzel.

So, Julie Andrews has her idea of good things. And I have mine.

Here are a few:

My boys.

Miles' breath. I'm not kidding. It smells like cream cheese frosting. And if he eats a graham cracker it smells like a delicious after school snack. Only, today I was laying down and I forgot that I had just given him a piece of licorice and when I asked him if I could smell his breath a piece of slimy wetness dropped into my eye. So today it smelled like nibs, but most of the time it is frosting fantastic. I wish you could post smells because it would be totally worth it. I'll contact the blogger people and tell them to get going on this new technology.

HGTV.
I. love. it. We recently bought a house. I wrote into HGTV and told them that some rooms in my house need a makeover. I'm sure they should be getting back to me any day now...

My son's big head. 100th percentile people! Even though he has often been referred to as Stewie from The Family Guy and I myself have wondered if he is secretly plotting against me, I still love his head. The kid is going to be a genius!

My sister-in-law's blog. Because she posts more pictures and videos of Miles than I do. And who doesn't love someone that loves your kid? If you would like to check it out- click here.

Starfall.com
. If you have kids or can't read check out this website. Julie Keith from Erie introduced it to me and I am grateful for it. Miles is in love with it.

Miles' lisp. Pass is Pasth. Yes is Yeahsth. I wish I had one so I could sound as cool as he does.

"I'm a Mom
, I'm a Mom, I'm proud to be me, yeah."- I'm okay with the fact that I'm not a domestic goddess and that I have some wobbly bits. Yes, I give my child sugar based snacks. Yes, I heat food in the microwave in plastic bowls (aka: cancer traps). Yes, I have let Miles put my toothbrush in his mouth after I just used it. Yes, I plan Miles' bath time around American Idol, but I'm a good Mom and I am comfortable with myself. David loves me. Miles loves me and I love them.

My thoughts this week.

Yes, it's been awhile. Here are some things you've been missing from my brain:

American Idol.

What happened to you David Archuleta? I had such high hopes for you! Now, I voted for you this week only because I was worried that you weren't going to make it until next week. Come on, let's make it work. I really don't want to have to say, "It's not me, It's you."

Blue Legs.

I'm happy to report BLS (Blue Leg Syndrome) is no more. Now if we can just do something about his super tantrums and his unfortunate clawing of Sabrena's eyeballs.

I'm totally not embarrassed to say:

I have been waiting until it was socially exceptable for me to admit that I truly want to play Dungeons and Dragons. Yesterday NPR did a segment on D&D (so deliciously called) and I am using that as my opening to invite anyone who would like to venture into a world of geeky magic to join me on a quest of ...some word that sounds medieval. I would love to set something up. Come on. I know that I am not the only person who is the slightest bit curious about it. What's all the fuss about? We will never know unless we try.

Everyone loves Raymond.

I don't.

Erie Adventure.

This week David and I are flying to Erie, PA to look for houses for our big move in July. I'm nervous. Mostly about the separation anxiety I am bound to have with Miles, but also about the whole home buying process. I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. Any advice? From anyone?

Our new friends The Keiths.

Thanks to our friends The Keith family for letting us stay with them for a full week while we are in Erie. Soooo nice. I hope we can be nice to the next round of med students when the time comes. Thanks David and Julie.

The Mangums.

I'm so glad Sabrena and Danny live downstairs. It's so nice to have them around. Thanks for putting up with us.

The Children's Museum.

I think this is worth a whole post by itself. I'll get on that.

My husband.

I love him. I really do. Sometimes I just want to grab him and squeeze him. (I said that with clenched fists.)

Weight Watchers.

I'm doing it. Only, I'm not paying for it. I can't wait to get all hot. I bet it's awesome to be a trophy wife.

Edward Cullen. I just remembered something odd... Has anyone ever noticed how often Stephenie Meyer uses the phrase "lips pressed into a hard line." I think it's strange. Every time I read it I press my lips into a hard line to see what she means, but I still don't know. Aly Cain does though.

That's all.

I don't feel bad about watching American Idol.

I used to feel a bit shameful when I would admit to watching American Idol. You know how it goes... You watch the poor people humiliate themselves in front of billions of people during the idol auditions- but then you get hooked.

This year I have a good excuse to watch. Miles dances to the music and always claps his hands after David Archuleta sings. My son knows talent.

I'm pretty sure David Archuleta is singing to me when he is up there. We share a special bond. We are both from Utah, we both like singing... We both... have friends...

...See- only he and I share that special bond. How many people from Utah do you know that like to sing and have friends? That's what I thought. Just the two of us.

I watched him sing tonight and I was literally crying by the end. (Although, to be fair, I also cried when Marge told Maggie that they shared a "special bond.")

Oh adorable David Archuleta- I'll be seeing you next week.
