Activity #9: Hinckley Lake
This was a really fun little place. Once again, I didn't take pictures of all of it, just mainly what my kids were doing. What isn't pictured is a fun little shallow area for the kids to walk around and play in past a second set of little falls, a great bike trail around the lake (3 miles long), and places with picnic tables and BBQs. There is also a snack bar at the lake incase you don't want to pack a lunch. We went with some friends and cooked hot dogs and ate during "everybody out" times (quarter to every hour).
The kids had a blast and I was excited they got to play in the sand again. We really miss Presque Isle in Erie.
Cons: The water is someone questionable. I am sure it is fine, but I get grossed out by any type of merkiness and this water was a little concerning. Nobody else seemed to mind. Also, I had a bad parenting moment here, but I don't want to talk about it.
It looks like Faye is throwing sand in her face.
I was having a panic attack at this point hoping that she wouldn't drink the water. She did. She didn't end up with Malaria or The Runs, so I guess it worked out for the best. We have yet to see the long term affects.
There is always a life guard on duty. And for some reason Miles LOVES talking to the life guards. Any lifeguard. They don't love talking back. Lifeguards are too cool for school and Miles doesn't have a tan or an awesome body- so he is out of the cool kid club.
Faye played in this hole for like 45 minutes.
You can see some of the picnic tables in the background of this picture.
Have I told you how excited I am that Miles and Faye are friends now?

I went to Hinckley Lake for the first time a few weeks ago with Ali and Cathy. It's a great little spot. I went back with just my family a week or two later and we took a canoe out. It was a gorgeous day. I like it down there.
Wow. I'm overwhelmed trying to find all the fun kid things to do in a new city. Maybe I should take some cues from you!
