Prego Log #5: The Surreal Life

Hello Friends!

Well, it's official. I gave my mid-wife one more chance and it proved to be a wasted effort. I went to get my ultrasound on Monday only to be sent away because apparently I had called and rescheduled myself to Tuesday. ...Um, only I never did that.

You know- I'm at a loss because the mid-wife herself hasn't done anything wrong, but I'm afraid too many weird things have happened at the office and I just don't trust them. I'm afraid that the next time I go in there might be some clerical error and my entire identity will be erased. That would be fine and everything if I had some training in martial arts and weaponry, like my good buddy Matt Damon, but since I don't- I really don't want that to happen.

Should I give up? Or just get over it?

Now the good part...

I'm having a baby! And she is a perfect little pear. That's right! It's a girl! I knew it! I knew it before Miles was born. I'd have a little boy and a little girl. David and I decided that we are done now. I'm sure that will last...

So- now I'm on a mission. The baby is real and I need to get busy. Last night I stayed up dreaming of baby girl names and when I thought I had the perfect one David told me it sounded like a weapon that was used in the civil war. No good. Back to square one. I also have a strange new interest in the vacant room upstairs that will soon be the nursery. I want it to be beautiful for my beautiful baby girl. I'm having a girl!!! I'm so excited. I hope I will be a good mother to her.

On top of that- I have decided to get going on the three things that I swore would be done before this baby comes: No more pacifier (or pass as I like to call it) for Miles, no more diapers for Miles, and Miles transitions to a big boy bed.

Well, I started this morning. I snipped his pass. Each day I will snip a little more until it is completely gone and he can't use it anymore. It's bound to work. My apologies to those of you who will be around us during this phase- especially at church.

I have already called my Mom and got the best tips to potty training in a day. I'm going to the store today to get the supplies we need and then bam! training starts on Friday.

And third- I'm going to pick up a bed tonight with some Lighting McQueen sheets. Please, please, please let that be enough motivation.

So, needless to say- I will be doing nothing for the next week or so but turning my toddler into a man.

Wish me luck my friends. I'm going to need it.

Yea.. I will soon have my very own neice. Too bad you live many, many miles away from me. Good luck with turning Miles into a man. Snipping the bink worked for Hill with Gavin. I am curious to know if it will work. Talk to you soon..

Yay for a girl!!!! I am so excited for you guys. Isn't that the best to have two of each so soon, so that you don't have to be wishing with each pregnancy that you will have the gender you want. Fun, fun.

In regards to the midwife thing - I believe the way an office functions can make or break my experience. It sounds like they are a bit unorganized and have failed to create trust with you. I am big on trust. You can try one more time but if they don't deliver me and my uterus would be outta there.

My sister snipped her daughter's binky to and that seemed to work pretty well. Good luck with the potty training! You are seriously going to need it... Or maybe Miles will just be as amazing as he is at everything else and pick it up really fast... Start praying hard!

Did I tell you I am getting a new doctor. It is next to impossible to transfer offices here though!
I am going to try to get into see Elizabeth Wise. Where are you transfering to?

Anyway, I thought you said your ultrasound was canceled. How do you know it's a girl? Girls are so fun. I think we might be having a girl. I am kind of getting the girl vibe (although Gracie still thinks its a boy when it isn't a pony) I woke up the other morning and a girl name popped into my head as I opened my eyes. I have no idea where it came from. I didn't even think I was dreaming about names or anything... Anyway, I am really excited for your little girl, and I am trying to think up a girls name that sounds like a civil war weapon... Hope you are feeling good. Talk to you soon.

Congrats!!! A girl....that is so fun, much cuter girl clothes than boys.
I hope all the doctor/midwife stuff works out. It is so different back here....in my opinion not as good, so that makes it hard.
I hope all the potty training and sleeping in the big boy bed goes well.

Yay!! Our baby girls can be best friends. And Lily can still marry Miles. Lets talk about names. Sorry about your midwife. Call me.

Girls are so fun! Congrats! I laughed so hard at your midwife tech stories. Good thing she won't be delivering your baby.

Oh, we definitely need some girls in the family and I guess since we are technically not family Harper could really end up marrying her which means then we really would be family---lets push this topic when they are a little older!!!!

So exciting!!
love m

Yeah for girlies. Your doing it the right way. I have always thought that having a boy first then girls was the best. He can be their protector. So far I am on the right track. Cant go wrong now, just need a girl sometime in our life, but our record of 2 boys is proving me wrong already!

Girls have so much more cute things, clothes, nursery stuff, toys. So congrats and go wild!

um.. yeah.. I dont know if anyone told you, but just cause they are potty trained and binky free, doesnt make them a man.. shoot I know. Em, snipping the bink didn't work with Gav. We actually tried it and he threw it at us, he was like, what? you gave me a broken binky. what worked for us was this, we would only let him have it at night and naps. then eventually, we just had him throw it away, when he asked for it, we told him he threw it away, it worked. But for Soraya, we had to go cold turkey. With Ella, we did the binky fairy. As you can see each kid had their own way of getting over it, good luck!! As for potty training, you can call and we can chat about that.

BTW- What was the name for the little princess? Yeah for a girl!!

A girl!! Yahoo, girlys are awesome, you will have so much fun! Congrats! Myles will be the BEST big brother!!!
Sorry about the mid-wife mishaps, that sucks, hopefully everything will work out!

I'd say drop the midwife. That was probably predictable, but thats how I feel. Plus they would probably accidentally switch your baby girl with some other little girl.

I think you should just let Dave do it. He's pretty much already a doctor, right?

A girl will be so fun...not that boys aren't fun too. But the clothes are so much cuter! I remember the day I found out you were pregnant, you were writing down names in church...only girls' names!

Hooray for girls. She'll love being a girl. I'm a girl too and it's a lot of fun. Totally curious about the civil war weapon name. Robert always thinks my names sound like fancy objects in some "company only" parlour. Oh well. You'll have to share those potty training secrets.

Tiffany said...

Congrats! A girl! And good luck with the potty training and other transitions. We still want to visit you guys. Are you going to be around in Oct? Robert has a small break and maybe we could come up.

I was so excited when I read "she" You are having a baby girl!! How awesome to have one of each. I am so sad you wont be here when you have her. I will be waiting anxiously till you come back so I can see her and love her!! Your mom was saying how much you love it there. I am so glad. I miss you though. I keep going places and thinking to call you to come. I love you and miss you

How about the name Abby? Jk. Having a little girlfriend is so great. I can't wait to be a stay @ H mom again. Anyway, I hope you find a better doctor or midwife. Sounds like a tough spot to be in. Are you a fan of the pink and brown combo? I love Abby in pink and brown. Her room was brown when we moved in, and I think I might paint the top half pink... I know it's done to death but I still like it. Your girl is going to be so pretty. I just know it.
