Drip drip Drop, Dreary Erie Showers

It rained. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. Here is a video of me outside our house in my rain boots. Although it looks like I am about to do some business, I am really crouched over in amazement of the river that once was my street.

Our neighbor's backyard. You see where those railroad ties are? Well about 6 more are covered with water.

Check out this car down the street.

Once the flooding stopped Miles went out for some fun.

Due to the floods, my friend got trapped inside her car which was completely overtaken by rushing water. Click here to read all about it.

Eden, Ripkin and Traveling on the Wrong Side of the Freeway.

Eden.

We were lucky enough to spend some time at Danny and Sabrena's summer home in Eden, UT. Well, it is actually Danny's parent's, Dave and Stevie's, summer home. I wish I would've taken more pictures. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We took the kids for a ride on the boat, we played at the playground, we watched Nemo on the biggest standing television I've ever seen and we even played a game with Danny and Sabrena- which almost never happens because they both seem to be allergic to board games.

Witkin.

Everything was absolutely perfect- well, except for Ripkin. Ripkin is Danny's parents dog. He is sweet and loving, but is about 15 feet tall and Miles is more than terrified of him as he is all other dogs. Miles didn't even want to be on the same floor as him. When we left Eden we didn't hear any more about Ripkin until yesterday at about 9 pm- three weeks later.

There we were just sitting at the table and Miles was sort of looking off into space.

Miles: I sorry I scared of Witkin (Ripkin).

Dave and I get surprised looks on our faces. Ripkin? Why were you thinking about Ripkin?

David: Thats ok. He's not here.

Miles: Yeah, he's not here. He is at Stevie's.

Stevie's? We didn't even know he knew who Stevie was let alone that Ripkin was Stevie's dog. He is such a little genius. I mean, I really think that he is a genius.

The On-ramp.

Get a load of this:

This is the result of the freeway being closed from Bountiful to Salt Lake. Just straight up closed with no promise of reopening and no cars moving. Well, except these cars who are using the on-ramp to get off the freeway. I have never seen anything like it. We sat in traffic for about ten minutes before we decided to be naughty and do what the cool kids were doing. Seeing as how we were breaking the law, I wish it would've been more thrilling.

The Bees Knees Game

We took Miles on Trax to the Bees Game. It was super fun and although the people we were supposed to meet there decicded to be too elitist and only stay in their box seats, we enjoyed ourselves anyway.

He was a little nervous about the Bee, but he did sing him the "Squishing up my Baby Bumble Bee" song. It was cute.

He wanted to roll like the other kids, but found a faster way to get down the hill.

And of course his favorite thing to do at the game...

Young Love

Dear Cicely in 2021-2025-

Miles and/or Faye are teenagers now. They will no doubt be involved with crushes and possibly kissing and could maybe have even fallen in love already. I know that in general you are a skeptic about most things and most likely especially about your kid's love lives, but I'm here from the past to remind you of a few classic (and some even timeless) young romances. Here are a few examples:

Romeo and Juliet

Noah and Allie

Samantha Baker and Jake Ryan

Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez

And lets not forget the most important of all- you and David.

After all, you did fall in love with him when you were 15 and he was 16. Remember how happy and passionate and perfect you were together at such a young age and how with time your love got even better and stronger.

Don't write off a "high school romance" as just a crush. I'm just saying...

Ps. You better not have gained back that 15 lbs. I just lost.

The Cheesum.

Miles loving refers to The Children's Museum as the "cheese um."

Here are some adventures we had with Max and Tatum before we left and once we arrived at Discovery Gateway.

Sadly there is no sound because my very old camera doesn't allow it and I didn't have room in my bag to bring the video cam. Boo.

Too much fun.

Our long trip of Utah awesomeness is over and we had a ton of fun. I don't want to overwhelm this post with to many different happenings- so I think I will just post something new every day... or so.

Lets start at the very beginning:

Or... maybe at the middle because somehow all the shots I took before David got to SLC have tragically disappeared. Bummer.

Anyway. This is Emily's (David's sister) wedding.

I don't know if you can see with it being so dark and stuff, but here is a picture of Dave looking awesome.

I took a picture of Annie taking a picture of me.

The happy couple.

The other happy couple.

I'm on a boat with Aly. (Don't worry- that isn't supposed to make sense to you.)

Miles says we "are a funny goose."

Nibble on that until tomorrow.

Scuse me.

At 6:00am before Miles was really awake for the day:

Miles: (Burp.) Scuse me. (...waiting for a response.)

Miles: Mommy, scuse me. (...waiting for a response.)

Miles: Mommy! Scuse me!

Me: You're excused.

Miles: Oh, Okay. Thanks.

And he was back to sleep.

UT v. PA

I have had so much fun in SLC (of which I will be posting photos of sometime later) and there is much more fun to be had, but right now I am missing my schedule and my ward and my friends and my caloric intake and my home.

Stay cool Erie.
